Grief Is
Loss and tears
it shouldn't be measured
by social media jeers
think,
before you type
grief is not
lies lurking and spinning
on social platforms
it is not
a win or a bragging title
there is no ‘Rest in Peace’
when compassion loses the fight
and kindness is devoid of light
grief is not
an opinion or a conspiracy theory
the answers for suffering and sorrow
are not posted
in fake media accounts
grief is not
free advertising or a scam
it is not a follower to gain
a reason to bully someone
or a point to make
grief is real
raw and exposed
when words trigger hate
that rains down hard as bullets
apathy is a terrifying, tangible shape
grief is a torrent
a shock to the hearts of those who remain
it is a person
reeling in brokenness and pain
grief has a face, a heart, and a soul
grief is not the person who died
but people it leaves behind
those people need you to be kind
they deserve your respect
so, before you type, remember
words can kill too.
Crescent Dreams
Night is a magic trick
that hops
out of a new moon’s black hat
a rabbit waving a carrot stick
appears floppy and careless
flicking dreams into the light
windows in a whirl
reflections of an audience
half-painted gardens
a nibble or two of clover
for giggles and good luck
a hop and a jump
dashing in the woods
trees dribbling from its brush
arches over trails
a clearing and a river
rushing stars and dazzle
a gazing ball springs up
conjuring northern lights
blazing into trellises
the peace of whispery vines rest
a silver lined hole flashes
underneath the green
it’s a cottontail’s burrow
and the magician’s clever rabbit
is still nestled inside
sweet and fast asleep
